Things That Have Gone Right Today…
My boss continued to show me he had my back and would put up with my complaining
I got a good start on organizing my department at work
I left work at a reasonable time today
I got a corn cake for dinner at On The Hill today
My Improv instructor remembered my name
I had a great time at my improv class today and held my own
I found my Ray-Bans, which I had forgotten I could not find said sun glasses on Monday
I will watch Mad Men
Things That Will Go Right Tomorrow…
I will let go of bitterness about work and them taking our phones back
I will with hold smart ass comments about corporate VP that is coming in tomorrow
I will ask for recommendation letter from huge client and job search a bit
I will leave work at reasonable time again
I will not spend money eating out
I will clean house
That feeling you get when you’ve run out of money and you have another week to go before your next paycheck and you’re debating what’s more embarrassing: calling your parents and asking for some money, or mooching off your friend for a bite of their muffin.
You have no idea how much I could relate to this a little more than a year ago…
The feeling you get when you’re riding the subway home from work and you’re trying not to fall asleep but your eyelids are feeling really heavy and you think about how all you do all day is stare at a computer screen and you wonder how you ever ended up working there in the first place and then you blink and you realize you missed your stop.
Conversation with Fed-EX
Me: Hello we have a regularly scheduled pick-up with fed-ex and it is after 7 our driver usually gets here at 5:30-6.
Fed- Ex: Well you window is actually until 8 I am not concerned yet since it is not 8. Sometimes a diver might have a big pick-up that holds them up or… blah blah blah.
Me:Well yes, I understand but once it is 8 you will tell me it is too late to send anyone out. Is there anything you can do to make sure someone hasn’t “already come by” and that there will be someone coming?
Fed-Ex: Well you can call back after 8 if no one shows, I don’t see a note on your account I don’t think anyone has been there.
Does Fed-ex really think I will not call back and scream at them when there is still no one here to pick up the packages at work and I have to drive them to the air port? Trust me this is not the day to make me mad… I am am 100% sure no will come and I am waiting untill exactly 8 to call and yell at them after they tell me it is too late to send anyone out. They will use an excuse that they came and no-one was here, which is BS because there are still atleast 5 people just in the area alone that fed-ex comes though. I will call them out on their BS and sream that I called an hour ago to prevent this from happening… they will say they are sorry. I will hang up and go to the air port and have this conversation with fed-ex again probably next week.
I love my interns! We are the only company in this program to be placed with two interns from the same school and it is a weird situation where a co-worker of mine actually did the paper work to get the interns and talked to the school, but they work for me. There was an intern appreciation celebration at their school tonight and everyone has to give a speech my co-worker who originally filled out the paper work for them couldn’t make it but another co-worker who helped out with the interns a little came along too. My interns thought it would be funny to play a joke on me and my co-worker. My girl intern is first and right before she goes she looks at me and asks kinda giggling ”what is your last name?” I tell her and am a little confused because I was pretty sure she could of gotten that information way before then and was pretty sure I already told her. They each have a slide and her slide says my two co-workers name but not mine even though I worked with them the most. She mentions me in the speech and all but gives my co-worker an award and says she can’t find mine at the moment. My boy intern then goes on after a few students later and on his slide is the name of the co-worker that set up the internship and couldn’t make it and mine. My other co-worker and I start laughing and I yell “Really?” He gives his speech jokingly calling my co-worker’s, who is with me, name and hands me my award. I think my interns out smarted us all and are schemers.
They learned from the best!
Having worked with girls in a youth detention center on a photography project, this hits home. I have met girls who were runaways and girls who actually committed murder. Neverever have I run into a girl who’s case was black and white. Fear, hopelessness, and environment are great motivators. This is a complex issue that I am glad to have met some great people who are passionate about it and really want to make a difference.
these photographs are really haunting.

I habe been reading about a lot of bills recenctly that put a damper on women’s rights. I feel like we are going back in time not moving forward as we should be and once were. This saddens me.
They might as well just change the legal status of women from ‘women’ to ‘incubator’, but that would require a certain honesty and frankness that Republicans do not possess.
Um, aren’t we pregnant then?
This one takes the cake.
Me: Hey Xerox rep, I had a customer complain to me about the security encoding you can only see in pure blue light that prints on every sheet printed on one of your machines.
Rep: Yeah…?
Me: We wouldn’t be able to get rid of it would we?
Rep: *Laughing* No
I didn’t even have to actually talk to a rep to get that response!
Really why is it designers think that their customers are going to be taking a cheap print that they already aren’t willing to pay anything for and be looking at it in the right lighting conditions and be like
“Hey, is that a nearly invisible grid of dots I see? I am going to throw this in the trash now! Because, I already wasn’t going to do that.”
